The Jazz Jamaica All Stars perform a rare and unmissable celebration of the legendary reggae/rock steady label Trojan Records featuring Brinsley Forde and Gary Crosby and very special guests.
Established in 1968, Trojan Records was the first label to distribute the music of Jamaica on a large scale and became for many in the UK the first point of contact with Jamaican music and culture, and a meeting place for young people who celebrated in sound what united rather than divided them. With its reworking of popular tracks of the time and innovative originals, Trojan became a crucial link between two very different cultures.
This concert pays tribute to the music and artists who have made a massive contribution to the extraordinary phenomenon that was Trojan Records, celebrating cultural diversity in the UK and indeed, the world. Join us for a stunning performance featuring Brinsley Forde, Gary Crosby, Noel McKoy and rising vocal stars, Dem Three, with superb music arrangements by Ben Burrell (Small Island, A Taste of Honey) and Jason Yarde to get audiences up on their feet dancing.
This concert is part of The Reggae Ticket, an innovative, grassroots music and culture outreach programme produced by Tomorrow’s Warriors supported by Arts Council England.
