Music-Net is a partnership between producer and promoter Root Music and Inner City Music, owners and operators of historic Manchester music venue Band on the Wall.
Music-Net is funded by Arts Council England and has two distinct strands:
- Music-Net works with and provides training events for grassroots music venues and promoters across England with a view to strengthening and supporting the long-term sustainability of the live music sector. We believe that the grassroots sector is crucially important to music industry and aim to work with venues and promoters to keep it healthy and vibrant.
We offer support and training with best practice and management. The project offers practical solutions, fosters partnerships and networking, and supports the delivery of high quality events. Throughout the duration of the project there will be contract surgeries, audience development seminars and special events focussing on fundraising, tours and special events.
- Music-Net continues to tour exciting new work to small and medium-sized venues. We work with venues and promoters to present high quality jazz, folk, reggae and international roots music. Tours are offered at special deals to venues and promoters and are supported with national marketing and PR.
Recent Music-Net tours have featured internationally-renowned and award-winning artists such as The Unthanks, Ryley Walker, The Young Un’s, Lau, Bassekou Kouyate. We supported the first UK tours by GoGo Penguin, Bombino and Snarky Puppy’s Bill Laurence
Music-Net aims to work with the best new artists from the UK and Europe, and supports new commissions and special projects. There will be at least 15 tours over the next three years.
