Let me tell you a bit about Tapinarii, who, I don’t think, have ever felled a tree in the forest in their lives, but they’ve definitely brought down a few musical preconceptions. From the start, in promoting their concerts, they address themselves to esteemed romantic intellectuals, which immediately excludes the larger mass of potential ticket buyers. Thankfully, this situation is clarified, straightforward and without detours, by the two musicians themselves, so we know what to expect if we’re not yet familiar with their music: “Honest lyrics, without unnecessary sweetness, without promises and syrupy declarations.”
This sort of “Bulmers-es” me a bit (a play on the cider brand), as romantic intellectuals might have expected at least a drop of blackcurrant syrup in their Guinness. But if it’s not there, so be it!
