Johnny Clarke is the prototype ‘dancehall’ singer of his day, setting the foundation for future generations to come with versioning, recutting and transforming old themes into something new and current. He pioneered this thirty years back but his work still stands as an everlasting monument for an era that seemed to be almost too good to be true. He took Jamaica and the reggae scene by storm when it needed it the most; presenting a fresh, youthful and energetic style and a crisp voice.
He comes to Manchester with the premier reggae backing band Dub Asante, who’ve brought the vibes for everyone from Max Romeo to Horace Andy and many more.
