2017 saw multi-instrumentalist and producer Pete Cunningham a.k.a. Ishmael embark on his most ambitious venture yet with the launch of the Ishmael Ensemble. Their debut EP ‘Songs For Knotty’ takes the listener on a whirlwind journey through psych-out jazz and evocative ambience, a sound that quickly caught the attention of tastemakers Gilles Peterson, Tom Ravenscroft and Dan Digs.
This was followed up by a special edition version with bonus live tracks and video that saw the EP end up in Xlr8r’s top releases of 2017. The project was also picked up by legendary producer and DJ Carl Craig who enlisted the group to remix his live ‘The Melody’ project for French label InFiné Music.
This marks the Ensemble’s first release of 2018, followed by a new single and video with visual artist Amie Nowlan.
As well as their regular live shows, the Ishmael Ensemble will be performing a re-working of Yellow Magic Orchestra’s ‘Technodelic’, which will be performed at this concert.
This is a standing show. Presented in association with ATC.
