We are thrilled to announce that US jazz superstar, composer, and producer Terence Blanchard will be leading our first ever Jazz Directors Series.
Since top-tier jazz and multiple Grammy-winning trumpeter and composer Terence Blanchard embarked on his solo recording career with his eponymous Columbia Records album in 1991, the New Orleans-born and –based artist has travelled many paths musically, including delivering adventurous and provocative acoustic jazz outings of original material. With this new project, Terence will team up with some of the UK’s most remarkable emerging musicians.
We are looking for 13 young professional jazz and ‘crossover’ musicians to form the first ever Inner City Ensemble. Over one week from Sun 11 – Sun 18 September the newly formed group will rehearse and perform specially written arrangements of original works by Blanchard and musicians with whom he has worked in the course of his extraordinary career.
For Jazz Directors Series #001 with Terence Blanchard we are looking for emerging professionals aged over 18 who play to a very high standard (graduate and above) with excellent reading skills and who work in jazz and related ‘crossover’ genres. This is a paid professional engagement.
