Band on the Wall takes the multi-talented Werkha across town to the beautiful Loft at 13 Quay St, Manchester!

This is a standing show.

Werkha is Tom A. Leah, a Mancunian in Glasgow, via rural Cumbria.

First adopting the alias in 2012, Tom’s time so far as Werkha has seen him craft a singular sonic portfolio; exploring a vast array of live instrumentation, band arrangement, electronic production, DJ and remix work.

Like his busy schedule, Werkha’s productions demonstrate an infectious energy, curiosity, and enthusiasm for exploring the ways in which sound can traverse time and space, taking in transatlantic jazz and soul, diasporic West African percussion, trembling Chinese guzhengs, rolling Lancashire hillsides and vibrating urban tenements.

Werkha’s virtuoso live band have been busily honing their craft for a while now, playing clubs and festivals across Europe, alongside high profile support tours with Bonobo and Chet Faker.

Keisha Thompson aka Shebekeke is a Manchester based writer, performance artist and producer.

She is currently touring award-winning solo show, Man on the Moon. This autumn she will be launching her debut book, Lunar, featuring 40 new poems in addition to the script for Man on the Moon.

Worldwide FM DJ Rebecca Vasmant brings a fresh new twist to dance music with her love of jazz, the original form of unbridled spiritual sonic expression.

Manchester-based loop artist Clarky joins the bill with a live loop beatboxing set.
