Brighter Sound is delighted to welcome award-winning folk fusion quintet Project Jam Sandwich for a special series of workshops and performances with Sing City at Band on the Wall.
Hailing from Manchester, Project Jam Sandwich are a world folk fusion quintet of award-winning musicians. Concocting a captivating set of exhilarating improvisations, infectious rhythm and beautiful melody from around the globe, their music has situated them as rising stars in their field. They’ve performed at prestigious events including the BBC Proms and their exuberant live performances regularly bring audiences to their feet.
This January, Project Jam Sandwich will lead two special workshops exploring how melody can transform song with arrangement and improvisation. The workshops will give young songwriters the to opportunity to explore new musical genres and develop composition skills. At the end of the month, participants will be given the chance to perform live on stage with Project Jam Sandwich at our monthly performance night, Sing City Live.
The two workshops and performance are part of Sing City, Brighter Sound’s songwriting and vocal collective for 13-18’s.
Our free Sing City sessions continue to build, develop and nourish the talent of young people by incorporating regular performance opportunities, guest masterclasses and special workshops into our programme. Sessions are led by a team of expert vocalists and music educators who all work professionally in the music industry. This fantastic team includes Sara Lowes (solo artist and composer), Yvonne Shelton (Gloria Estefan, Simply Red, George Michael), Liam Frost (solo artist and with Tokolosh band) as well as a number of guest musicians.
At the end of every month, there is a Sing City Live under 18’s performance night where everybody comes together to perform live on stage at Manchester’s iconic music venue Band on the Wall. Book a ticket to Sing City Live with Project Jam Sandwich on Weds 27 Jan (7-9pm) here.
