Sing City Live | 30 Sept | 7.30pm | Band on the Wall | Free

Brighter Sound presents Sing City Live, an under 18s night at Band on the Wall, featuring the best new material written by young people from our regular Sing City sessions. Showcasing Manchester’s up-and-coming music talent, Sing City Live is a great opportunity for young musicians to share their material and perform at one of the city’s most iconic music venues.

This month’s Sing City Live will be dedicated to raising awareness and money for cyctic fibrosis. The night will be hosted by Sing City participants Tom and Leaf and their band The Social Leftover.

Leaf suffers from cystic fibrosis, a life-shortening inherited disease, affecting over 10,000 people in the UK. You can’t catch or develop cystic fibrosis, it’s something you’re born with and most cases in the UK are now diagnosed soon after birth. Cystic fibrosis is an inherited disease caused by a faulty gene. This gene controls the movement of salt and water in and out of your cells, so the lungs and digestive system become clogged with mucus, making it hard to breathe and digest food. More than 2.5 million people in the UK carry the faulty gene, around one in 25 of the population.

We’re delighted to welcome special guest artist James Holt and his band at Sing City Live this September. James was part of the brilliant Chaos to Order residency with Manchester band Everything Everything at Central Library. You can listen to the brilliant piece of music he recorded following Chaos to Order with some of Manchester’s most talented emerging musicians here.

This event is free, however we would be grateful for anything you can donate on the night.

Join us for what will be a very special night and welcome back to Band on the wall for Sing City.
