Sing City: Autumn 2014
Brighter Sound and Band on the Wall present an extended vocal programme for young people……
Sing City is back at Band On The Wall after a summer full of festival fun and collaboration. Open to experienced young vocalists and songwriters looking to broaden their skills, collaborate and perform.
Full group sessions are on Wednesday evenings starting 10th September 2014 at Band on the Wall (see dates below. Occasional additional rehearsal and recording space is available on request).
Our group of young singers and songwriters will develop new material leading up to Christmas, including new collaborations with visiting artists as well as working with Manchester Museum on their new project Wonderstruck.
Sessions continue to support young writers as they develop their own material and performance style, with support from choral leader and vocalist Yvonne Shelton and musician and writer Sara Lowes
Open to all young singers, writers, MC’s, beatboxers and vocalists. Young performers aged 13-18 sing and harmonise; write new music with brilliant guest artists and leaders; learn composition, songwriting with solo vocal and group skills all in the main venue at Band on the Wall. This is an ongoing project with regular performance opportunities on our “Sing City Writes’ nights (last Wednesday of the month see dates below).
The project is led by vocal and choral leader Yvonne Shelton (George Michael, The Beautiful South, Take That, Gloria Estefan). Sara Lowes (solo singer and writer (vocals and keyboard with Marina & The Diamonds) to explore the sources of songwriting inspiration and methods of lyrical and vocal interpretation.
