An interactive session to get to know the world of rhythm and percussion with tabla master Saleel Tambe.
During the workshop, participants will get to know Saleel and each other, before getting insight into this most wonderful percussion instrument and exploring the sounds it can make. There will be joint exercises, collaboration and an easy introduction to a simple ‘Kayda’ and its basic variations, before you are introduced to a slightly more advanced approach to compositions and Tihai calculations.
The workshop will be followed by a concert from Saleel, performing pieces that emphasise the tabla along with an ensemble of other musicians.
No previous experience is necessary and all ages are welcome.
