2005 Mercury Music Prize Best Album nominees Polar Bear are an avant jazz quintet led by enigmatic drummer Seb Rochford who thrilled audiences at Band on the Wall last year as part of our opening celebrations. They are part of a long tradition of drummer-led bands stretching back through Chick Webb to Art Blakey.
Collaborations with Joanna McGregor, Adele, Brian Eno, David Byrne, Patti Smith and Yoko Ono have brought Roachford, and his unique jazz vision, fans from every music genre. Hot on the heels of a triumphant performance earlier this year by sister band Acoustic Ladyland, Band on the Wall is delighted to welcome Roachford and his maverick cohorts back for what promises to be another storming set.
