“…the most exciting artist since the likes of F-ire collective, Polar Bear and Acoustic Ladyland….” Observer Music Monthly *****

Pianist Neil Cowley grew up to discover fame and fortune working with some of the best soul artists of the day such as Brand New Heavies, Gabrielle, The Pasadenas and Zero 7 before forming his own acclaimed band Fragile State.

Since those day, Neil Cowley and his acclaimed trio, bassist Richard Sadler and drummer Evan Jenkins, have carved out a reputation as one of Britain’s most exciting live bands. Cowley’s music, a powerful examination of the sonic possibilities of the acoustic piano trio, draws equally on classical,  trance, rock and jazz, and led Mojo to hail the bands 2008’s Loud louder Stop as a Modern Classic, and list it in their 50 Best Albums of that year.

Live, Cowley shows instinctive flair and ingenuity as an entertainer.  At the heart of their captivating performances is Cowley’s marvellously English wit, and remarkable rapport with his audience. Described by Cowley as music for the ‘heart and feet’, the Neil Cowley show moves effortlessly between moments of poetic grace, rip-roaring riffs and Chaplinesque ditties that reminds us that for all his many influences, Cowley’s music is as British as a Test Match Special, warm beer or a bacon sarnie. Another perfect night at The Band.

This concert will begin at 8pm.
