María José Llergo is a standout voice in contemporary flamenco, blending traditional roots with modern, urban sounds. Born in rural Pozoblanco, Córdoba, her music is deeply emotional, honoring flamenco tradition while embracing new, innovative directions.
A graduate of the Catalonia School of Music, she studied under José Miguel “Chiqui” Vizcaya, a grand master of flamenco, known for having mentored Rosalía. Establishing her status as a national flamenco icon, she has also starred in a Loewe campaign alongside Rossy De Palma, Her latest album, Ultrabelleza, was selected by Rolling Stone as one of the 50 best Spanish-language albums of 2023, and has recorded sessions with COLORS and Tiny Desk.
