Marconi Union – Richard Talbot, Jamie Crossley and Duncan Meadows – are thought to be “amongst today’s most talented musicians” (The Sunday Times). They have continually steadily developed and refined a unique musical identity, evoking emotions from gracefully blending elements of dub, jazz, ambience and electronica within their richly melodic compositions.

Live, the band perform to a backdrop of split-screen film projections created by emerging Manchester arts collective DOTCA – characterised by the social, political and technological themes hinted at within their music. Their music is measured and solemn on occasion, misty and dreamy on others, discordant and grating as well, but always underpinned with a hint of experimentation that pushes boundaries, setting out to challenge as well as to entertain.

Marconi Union are probably best known internationally for ‘Weightless’, one of the most popular ambient tracks of all time and claimed to be the most relaxing track in the world with its tens of millions of streams and YouTube views. The composition even earned the accolade of being named as one of the ‘Best Inventions Of The Year’ by Time Magazine.

“Minimal, introspective, ethereal electronica – gorgeous.” – The Guardian
“Sonically immaculate.” – Uncut

As well as their studio albums, commissions and live performances, Marconi Union have also accepted Festival invitations from Brian Eno and have collaborated with the Marina Abramovic Institute. Their music straddles the worlds of artistic credibility and musical accessibility and has been selected to accompany art installations, independent arts based projects, theatre and ballet, and to serve as the beautiful musical backdrop to television commercials, drama and documentary films worldwide.

This is a seated show.
