Inspired by the aggressiveness of British punk and the New York ‘Club Kids’, ARCH FEMMESIS fuses performance artist ZERA TØNIN and Synthesist, Princess Stephen. Birthed in the underground ‘Alt Queer’ Clubbing scene, the duo bring a nostalgic nod to queer dance culture but with a fresh face lift and chemical peel.

Having toured with artists such as Grove & Tokky Horror, The Lovely Eggs, Benefits, and most recently The Comet is Coming, they’ve enjoyed spreading the message of empowerment and unapologetic authenticity  through their noisy, sapphic and satirical sounds.

Singer Zera Tønin confronts their religious upbringing with sass and humour  to verbally castrate misogyny, to empower gender minorities, explore positive sex attitudes and discuss sex work. She combines her operatic tone with a Diamanda Galas-esque screeching, rebelling against the elitist perfectionism of her classical music background. The duo have been compared to the likes of Peaches, Fever Ray, Patti Smith and Soft Cell (having a knife fight in a strobing underpass)
