Lo Cor de la Plana is a Marseilles’ choir from the quarter La Plaine, six magnicant singers, accompanied by percussionists (using traditional bendirs and tamburello), handclapping and foot-stomping.

Founded in 2001, the group devotes itself to the systematic re-creation of the intriguing and ancient Occitan tradition of polyphonic vocal arrangements. The resulting harmony singing is completely spellbinding and like nothing you will have heard before. Performing across the world in spaces ranging from churches and factories to bars, theatres and now Band on the Wall,  they mix the haunting pagan sounds of their ancient Occitan heritage with the musics of modern Marseilles – to wonderful effect. The result is mesmerising, beautiful and completely compelling. Highly recommended.

This concert will begin at 8pm but our Picturehouse Cafe Bar is open from 5.30pm for delicious food and drinks.  Special Offer! Book your meal in advance and get free ‘lucky dip’ tickets for a future concert – click here now for details
