Suéli Gil is a daughter of Angolan parents. Suéli Gil combines the folkloric rhythms of Semba and the Bahia Afro sounds or “Tropicália” movement to tell wholesome stories relating to her life. Her musical influences approach musicians such as Djavan, Gilberto Gil, Elis Regina, Gal Costa, Paulo Flores.
The Portuguese artist comes from a dancing culture, where family events were an excuse to celebrate their ancestors’ rituals away from Africa, as a result her performances bring positivity and of course lots of good vibrations and movement amongst her audiences.
