Beat the Jams live series showcases the very best of the jazz scene, at short rush hour gigs from 6pm at Band on the Wall. What better way to avoid those endless queues, chaotic traffic and stressful homeward journeys?

7 October – Anna Chandler-King Quartet

Leeds based saxophonist and composer Anna joins us again for Beat the Jams, this time with her own band. Anna’s thoughtful and inventive compositions are firm favourites of us at Beat the Jams and her quartet promises to be a unique rush hour busting treat!

16 November – Sam Lightwing Quartet

Saxophonist and composer Sam Lightwing brings presents brand new music for his thrilling young quartet, showcasing Sam’s original compositions, which blend classic mainstream jazz grooves with modern flavours of post-pop and latin, all wrapped up in the language of contemporary sax giants such as Chris Potter, Seamus Blake and Joshua Redman.   

15 December – Svarc/Devine/Walsh with Richard Iles

The band combines deep pocket, fearless interplay and a shared love of exploration. Expect everything from soulful melodies and infectious rhythms to moments of exhilarating collective improvisation, delivered with the chemistry that only world-class musicians can create.
