Since her solo debut in 2010, Jimetta Rose has marked herself to be an unquestionable tour-de-force within the LA independent music scene. Eager not to stick herself in any one box, she experiments with all kinds of genres – be that jazz, R&B, gospel or hip-hop – in a bid to create her own definitions of art and to celebrate the transformative power of music.
For her sixth release, How Good It Is, Jimetta’s enlisted the help of The Voices of Creation, a community choir handpicked by Jimetta herself. The album is a joyful, jazzy ode to the beauty of life and the abundance it brings – so it makes sense that the singers were hired not on their vocal ability, but rather their dedication to healing themselves and others.
With flourishing vocals and gorgeous instrumentation, Jimetta re-imagines soul and blues classics with her own spin. The end result? A passionate love letter to life itself, that is deeply vulnerable and impressively introspective.Artists on stage: 8.00pm
