18:15-19:45: Beginners. 20:00-21:30: Intermediate/Advanced.
Under the direction of saxophone legend Munch Manship Band on the Wall’s long running and popular jazz group continues it’s exploration of the jazz repertoire for another ten sessions plus a full evening performance on Sunday 6th December 2015 at Band on the Wall.
Jazz Foundations offers a chance to blow through and rehearse new arrangements of great compositions in a mixture of jazz styles from Miles Davis and Ornette Coleman to Tom Harrell, Stan Kenton and Benny Carter. Our specially devised and arranged charts are adapted to suit any instrumentation and offer solo opportunities for all the group. Sessions take place in a friendly and supportive atmosphere in the Education Room above the Main Venue at Band on the Wall. New members welcome, all ages* and instruments. Some reading skills are necessary for horn players and keyboards and would be useful (but not essential) for bass, guitar and drums.
