Inner Sense Percussion were a Batucada ensemble formed in Manchester in the mid 1980’s. They brought Brazilian street music to the UK and toured extensively in the late eighties and early nineties, eventually touring the world. They played at Band on the Wall on several occasions, and footage of the band, shot at the venue, features in this promotional video.
The line-up, as of their 1988 release with Bop Cassettes, was Chris Davies (percussion and flute), Colin Seddon (bass, percussion and acoustic guitar), Liz Faunce (alto sax and percussion), Sue Ferner (percussion), Alan Hampsall (percussion), Ian Holmes Lewis (percussion), Jan Dzaran (percussion and trumpet), Teresa Leahy (percussion), Juliet Martini (percussion), Eddie Sherwood (drum kit and percussion), Tony Watt (synthesisers and percussion).
The band celebrated their 25th anniversary with a show here in 2013.
