The much talked about Scottish outfit Hidden Orchestra come to Band on the Wall in December. Featuring a host of new material and a new live show designed alongside Bristol based visual artist Lumen, this will be a very special show.
Hidden Orchestra’s music has been described as “a highly-emotive, celluloid–inspired journey through one of the greatest films never made” (The Skinny), and “An uncanny sound…a faded-film world of spectre-filled forests” (Line of Best Fit), so with footage created by Lumen himself specifically for this project, the band have tried to create a more abstract version of what this film might be, still leaving the music open to interpretation by the listener.
The multilayered percussion of Hidden Orchestra’s music has inspired the projection-mapped set pieces of the new AV show. The initial idea of projecting images and lights onto the kick drums of the duelling drummers that front the band has expanded, and is now mirrored in screens throughout the stage built entirely of drum heads.
Lumen has tried to capture the music’s haunting and organic nature and by using various technologies Lumen is able to synchronise with the live performance of the band to create a cohesive and captivating show.
Mind On Fire DJs will hold the fort before and after the bands.
Thiis show will begin at 8pm but our Picturehouse Cafe Bar is open from 5.30pm for delicious food and drinks.
