Throughout the month of August, Help Musicians UK (HMUK), Musicians’ Union (MU) and British Association of Performing Arts Medicine (BAPAM) are partnering for Health & Wellbeing Month, aimed at providing a range of events about how to look after yourself as a professional musician. Health & Wellbeing Month will see each organisation bring their own focus, expertise and priorities to the events. There will be Workshops as well as Musicians Insights evenings in locations across the UK.
Musicians Insights is a short series of free events, two of which are taking place in Manchester at Band on the Wall. Hear a first hand, personal story of a musician who’s experience affected their career and gain understanding about how various charities and services fit into the support network for a musician. Interviewed by a trained Help Musicians UK visitor and introduced by the staff who are on the frontline of help and welfare within HMUK, this intimate evening will widen perceptions of what it means to be a professional musician and gain some insight into what can be done to improve situations for the future.
