Two of the UK’s finest youth jazz orchestras in concert at Manchester’s iconic jazz venue.
The GMJO is the elite youth big band in our region and draws its membership from educational jazz ensembles from all corners of Greater Manchester. Membership of the band is by audition and every member is a first class young performer. The orchestra will perform a blend of original music composed by leader Richard Iles combined with other items from the historic big band repertoire. For this gig, the band is joined by the multi-award winning Wigan Youth Jazz Orchestra. In 2016 WYJO celebrated it’s 40th anniversary and looks back on a history of touring, recording and celebrity concerts unmatched by any other youth jazz orchestra in the UK. An evening of stunning youth jazz not to be missed.
