Congas and Percussion for Pop, Rock and Dance
Focusing on congas this course will explore the percussionists role within the pop, rock and dance music world.
You will have the opportunity to use congas and a variety of other percussion instruments and learn about their importance and place in chart music today.
This is an open level course suitable for players of any level and highly recommended for participants who want to play in popular band styles and learn how to play along with other musicians at jam nights, performances or in a recording setting.
About the Tutor:
Lea Mullen is a drummer and percussionist who has worked in the music business for the last twenty years. He has toured and recorded with the biggest names (George Michael, Will Young, Ian Brown, Happy Mondays to name a few) and featured in the Olympics closing ceremony in 2012.
Lea’s unique approach to percussion has enabled him to develop unique and exciting ways of using congas and other percussion instruments in a band setting. By paying attention to frequencies, using a bank of knowledge and rhythms from decades of experience and utilizing a variety of percussion instruments and electronic gadgets, Lea has helped to put a percussive mark on the music of many of the worlds chart toping superstars’ live and recorded performances.
