Femi and The InRhythms, a 7-piece band from Lagos, Nigeria mixes the cerebral musicality of afrobeat with the visceral grooves of funk, underpinned with Yoruba-English vocal styles to create an eclectic futuristic world dance music, making them one of the key bands on the contemporary African music scene.

The group was formed by bassist Femi Sofela to put the heavy afrobeat sound into funk and jazz – music on which he built his reputation as a musician and producer.

Their debut CD ‘Pressure To Pleasure’ takes African music to a new high. As Rhythm Passport said (Jan 2018); “We are listening to a big band, with phenomenal harmonies, rhythm, and arrangements, as were once very popular, hegemonic even, before the advent of Hip Hop.”

For this show, the 7-piece are joined by a cracking horn section to bring ‘Pressure To Pleasure’ to life.

This is a standing show. Presented by Joyful Noise.
