That was the summer of 1963…
Following the huge success of our February Film Festival celebrating great movie soundtracks, Band on the Wall Film Club invites you to come and have the time of your life at a special 30th anniversary party for Dirty Dancing, including a one-off screening, DJs, cocktails and more, on Saturday 25th March.
Dirty Dancing is the 1987 American romantic dance drama written by Eleanor Bergstein, directed by Emile Ardolino and starring Patrick Swayze and Jennifer Grey as Johnny Castle and Frances “Baby” Houseman. Its iconic soundtrack is credited with kicking off a 60s music revival and spawned a number of chart-topping hits such as (I’ve Had) The Time of My Life, She’s Like The Wind and Hungry Eyes.
Unexpectedly, the soundtrack went on to be one of the best-selling albums of all time, selling 32 million copies and spending 18 consecutive weeks at No. 1 on the Billboard album chart.
This is more than just a film screening; since 2017 marks 30 years of Dirty Dancing, we’ll be keeping the party going with very special guests Stretford Wives DJs and 2 for £10 ‘I Carried a Watermelon’ cocktails – so memorise your Mambo, practice your Pachanga and remember NOBODY puts Baby in a corner!
