The first known Buzzcocks performance here at Band on the Wall, predating the formation of the Manchester Musicians Collective, which contained many Manchester bands of a similar ilk. The line-up at the time featured, Pete Shelley, Howard Devoto, Garth Davies and Mick Singleton.
This show occurred a month before The Sex Pistols’ famed show at the lesser Free Trade Hall, where Steve Diggle, who later joint the Buzzcocks, met members of the band. Discussing the gig, Diggle said “We brought The Pistols to Manchester, and we put the provinces on the map”.
