Coinciding with the venue’s 4th birthday since re-opening, the much-loved lead singer of legendary UK reggae band Aswad performing the great classics and more.

Aswad were one the UK’s top reggae bands with songs, typical of the time, about the oppression of black youth, such as “Three Babylon” and “It’s Not Our Wish”, and the powerful jazz-influenced instrumental “Warrior Charge”.

Among Aswad’s catalogue of hits is “Don’t Turn Around”, a pop hit in 1988 that resulted in Brinsley Forde being nominated for two Grammy awards and topping the global charts. Since then Brinsley has continued to be one of the UK’s most-loved and respected reggae artists whose influence has remained strong and in 2009 he performed live with Dizzee Rascal. In 2012 Brinsley was lead vocalist in Catch A Fire –  Jazz Jamaica’s  acclaimed tribute to Bob Marley and The Wailers that Band on the Wall staged at Leeds Town Hall to huge critical success.
