Acoustic Bhuna ft. DBH & Friends, Richard Lomax & The Tontine and Alex Chow

  • Sunday | 05.10.14
  • 5.00pm
  • Band on the Wall, Manchester

Acoustic Bhuna is Band On The Wall’s acoustic showcase evening, playing host to some of the very best acoustic music that the North West has to offer.

Every 1st and 3rd Sunday of the month, between 6 and 10pm, you will be able to see three of the regions finest acts playing for FREE in the cosy setting of Band On The Wall’s Picturehouse Cafe-Bar.

Manchester’s favourite multi-instrumental giant, DBH,returns to the Picturehouse Stage, this time to showcase his considerable skills as a blues pianist! Accompanied by the inimitable Pat Clarke on harmonica and Mickey Van Gelder on guitar, this is sure to be toe-tapping performance that will leave a smile on everyone’s face!

Once again, Acoustic Bhuna will be dipping into the goldmine of acoustic talent that resides in the Lancashire hills, this time in the form of Richard Lomax and his band, The Tontine. To quote one reviewer; “Richard Lomax is a madman. As he sings his drunken, manic, sea-shanty style songs, his eyeballs roll into the back of his head, his face distorts into scowls and frowns and he wails unexpectedly, becoming more than just a mouth-piece for the songs but at one with the despair the song depicts… compelling, screwed up and brilliant.”

Alex Chow is a precociously talented young guitarist and composer from Manchester who blends subtle, intricate fingerpicking with experimental sounds and loops to produce atmospheric, haunting soundscapes.

Doors open at 5pm. FREE ENTRY.

As a perfect accompaniment to the live music, you can tuck into one of Chef Giles’ fresh, home made curries, made with locally sourced ingredients and a whole lot of love. And why not wash it all down with a refreshing pint of cask ale from our sponsors, Green Mill Brewery?
