Acoustic Bhuna is Band On The Wall’s brand new acoustic showcase evening, playing host to some of the very best acoustic music that the North West has to offer.

Every 1st and 3rd Sunday of the month, between 6 and 10pm, you will be able to see three of the regions finest acts playing for FREE in the cosy setting of Band On The Wall’s Picturehouse Cafe-Bar.

This week’s acts are:

Death to the Strange

Death to the Strange’s reputation is growing exponentially since blowing Babyshambles out of the water during their recent support slot at Manchester Academy.  Five Manchester lads with a passion for making genuine and interesting music that is true to their working-class roots, the songs are sharp, energetic, instantly memorable indie-pop classics. One of the best up-and-coming bands in Manchester at the moment.

Papa Guns. Once upon a wintry eve, some-time guitar twiddler and seasoned warbler Papa Dubs stumbled into a Manchester tavern, drawn by the peculiar and enchanting rhythms emanating from within. There he found local beatsmith Alec Splatt, surrounded by trumpets, walloping and a-wailing like a sweaty musical messiah.
“Alec, Alec, put down your sticks! Pick up a guitar and sing me some Sam Cooke!”, cried Papa. “I shall, but only if you take this cello and play me some Swedish folk!”, replied Alec. The deal was struck, the cider flowed and, come the morning, Papa Guns was born; Manchester’s finest purveyors of sunshine harmony folk-pop refreshment.

Skutch Manos (formerly The Acoustic Conquistador) is a flamenco guitarist from Lancashire whose firecracker performances at Band On The Wall’s Sunday Sessions in 2012 and 2013 left the audience breathless and baying for more. Flamboyant, energetic and precociously talented, Skutch Manos’ playing is as frenetic as it is accomplished. Blink and you might miss it!

As a perfect accompaniment to the live music, you can tuck into one of Chef Giles’ fresh, home made curries, made with locally sourced ingredients and a whole lot of love. And why not wash it all down with a refreshing pint of cask ale from our sponsors, Green Mill Brewery?

This event will begin at 18:00.
