Mali Hayes – Live-ish stream 7pm Friday 9th April

Live-ish from fivefourstudios

While live music has been on pause, we’ve been busy working with a cohort of emerging artists from Manchester, recording full live sets over at fivefourstudios, Salford. These artists, who feature on the ‘2020’ compilation (available now via Band on the Wall Recordings) represent the future sound of Manchester – an outstanding collection of musicians whose work spans neo-soul, jazz, afro-electronic and more.

Weekly at 7pm Fridays, we present full sets from a different artist, broadcast ‘as-live’ for you to watch along. This week we present Mali Hayes.

Jazz/neo-soul singer Mali Hayes is one of the most exciting names on the new Manchester scene. Her vocal abilities allow her music to move from more acoustic wistful jazz to funk-driven, hard neo-soul (as can be heard on her most popular track ‘Hate on Me’). She’s been personally endorsed by the likes of Gilles Peterson and Jamie Cullum, and has been attached to Peterson’s Future Bubblers project.

Live-ish streams are free to watch, but these are extremely difficult times for independent artists. You’ll see a donations box at the bottom of this page where you can give as much or as little as you wish to help support the musicians.

100% of all proceeds go to the artist.

Note: If you can’t see the YouTube Premiere stream embedded on this page, try hitting refresh shortly before the broadcast time.
