Eliza Carthy & The Wayward Band head out on a UK tour next month, stopping at the RNCM on 12th November ahead of shows at Baths Hall in Scunthorpe and Nottingham’s Glee Club.
In anticipation of the tour and new album Big Machine, which will be released in January, the group have shared four new tracks from the album, including lead single Fade and Fall (Love Not). Listen to the tracks here.
In her recent interview with Songlines, Carthy said “I have a completely new voice. It’s like a new instrument. For a good ten years, I forgot what it was like to make music for pleasure. I lost all joy in it. That’s what the Wayward Band is for me: pure, f***ing joy!”. Discussing the new record, she added “Everything that we’ve done for this record has just been joyful, which is odd for a load of miserable sods”.
The group are in fine fettle, as their recent performance at Shrewsbury folk festival demonstrates; make sure you catch them live in November!
