Last week, our education partners Brighter Sound ran a hip hop workshop for Manchester’s young MC’s, producers and musicians at The Wonder Inn, in association with Reebok. While a cypher was in full flow, rapper Kendrick Lamar made a surprise appearance, stunning the participants as he engaged in the cypher and interacted with the MC’s.
The Compton rapper, whose 2015 album To Pimp a Butterfly was met with critical acclaim and saw him heralded as one of the world’s most accomplished rap artists, was in Manchester for the Reebok Classic launch event, which took place at Old Granada Studios, and he seemed highly impressed by the level of skill on show, leaving the workshop with the words “There’s some crazy talent up in here. You all keep doing your dreams and live it out… I will be back – I love you all.”
