Alexis Taylor is a musician, producer, DJ and songwriter from London, a co-founder of Grammy-nominated pop group Hot Chip, and member of improvised/non-improvised music project About Group. He released his first solo album, Rubbed Out, on Treader in 2008, and his most recent solo release was the EP Nayim From The Halfway Line, on Domino.
Taylor’s been busy with his day jobs: there’s a new Hot Chip album in the offing, following up last year’s Dark & Stormy EP, alongside work on new material with About Group, his trio with John Coxon and Pat Thomas, which sees him ditching his signature bleeps and blips in favour of jazz improv. He has also collaborated with visual artists Oliver Payne and Nick Relph for their Musical Food film for Frieze Art Fair, and with German producer Justus Köhncke in the duo Fainting By Numbers.
His favourite singers are Prince and Alex Chilton and his voice is just as unforgettable.
