Brighter Sound presents…

Manchester Youth Jazz Foundation. Returning to Band on the Wall for a summer programme of workshops, coaching and performance.

A three day course for young instrumentalists and singers aged 8-18. Improvise, create new music and play in groups. Led by leading jazz educator and workshop leader Kathy Dyson with support from established players and teachers including Joe Harrison, Helena Summerfield, Graham South and Ian Jones. This course is supported by MyHub and Jazz North.

Working in groups, each made up of young musicians of a similar standard, the participants will learn ensemble skills and ways to develop improvisation. The sessions are suitable for ages 8-18 (any instrument / ability although at least one years instrumental experience is necessary).

Whole group sessions include devised and collaborative music making activities to support composition and arrangement skills.

The course will end with a short informal performance in the main venue at Band on the Wall from 4.30-6.00pm on Wednesday 6th August.
