Youth Music

Saturdays during term times are dedicated to our Music Club, where young people aged 8-18 take over our learning spaces to play, learn, and discover music. We’re open to all ages and abilities, and you don’t need to read music to join in.

Discovery Club is for ages 8-12, where you will play percussion, try your hand at fiddle, tin whistle or guitar, and learn to play in small groups as well as together. Develop your skills, your rhythm and have fun! Sessions run from 10:15-12:00.

Young Musician’s Club is for those 11+. Bring along your instrument and play in a large ensemble as well as in smaller bands. Explore different skills and genres and develop your musicality. Sessions run from 11:30-13:15.

If that isn’t enough, you also get a free pizza lunch! Spaces are limited, so please enquire by emailing learning@bandonthewall.org before signing up. We’d love to have you join us!

Saturday Music Club is generously funded by the Oglesby Charitable Trust and supported by the Jack Lonergan Foundation.

“Best music lessons in Manchester in my opinion”

“My child has gone from being a shy person who spent lots of time in her room to a rock star! There is such value to having a space for young people to play instruments together in an informal and relaxed environment. My daughter feels connected to a community and has made friends with people from across the city. It has been a transformative 2 years for my daughter. Thank you!!”

“My son is always so happy when he leaves the music club and gets so much out of it. He has made new friends and grown in confidence in his musical abilities exponentially. He is blossoming from this group. The live performances are a wonderful experience and I can see how much it inspires the children. It’s wonderful to see children from all backgrounds and abilities come together and be creative in an accessible and equitable environment full of respect and creativity.”

“Keep up the great work and everyone that works there should be so proud of what they do for these children. It is giving them a space for creativity that is sometimes hard to access for many working class families like ourselves. It has really been a joy to watch my son flourish from this experience.”

“It’s a space I see and feel everyone welcomed and participants are excited to be a part of music making in such a wonderful place with staff that are engaging, inspiring and supportive”
