Stay Cool & Hydrated
A fun night starts with feeling good, so don’t forget to take care of yourself. Keep sipping water throughout the night to stay hydrated, tap water is free at the bar and take breaks to cool down, especially if you’re dancing. If you’re dressed warmly for the journey there, consider using the cloakroom to store your coat or jacket so you can move comfortably once inside.
Plan Your Night
Going out with a plan helps things go smoothly and keeps everyone on the same page. Before heading out:
– Let friends and family know where you’ll be. This way, someone you trust always knows where you are.
– Use the WalkSafe app or a similar app that helps you navigate your route home safely.
– Stick together with friends. Make a group plan for getting home and check in on each other throughout the night.
– Charge your phone fully before heading out, and consider a portable charger so you don’t get stuck without a way to reach people.
Identify & Interrupt
If you feel safe to do so, don’t hesitate to call out or report any inappropriate or concerning behavior you see. Whether it’s to a friend, staff, or security, alerting someone to unacceptable or suspicious behavior can make the night safer for everyone. Remember, your voice matters.
Stamp Out Spiking
Spiking is unacceptable and illegal, let’s stamp it out by looking out for each other including taking extra care with drinks:
– Don’t leave drinks unattended, and only accept drinks from people you fully trust.
– Ask the bar about drink toppers, which can help keep your drink secure.
If you ever feel unusual or suspect spiking, let friends and staff know immediately.
Know Your Limits
Pace yourself and pay attention to how you feel. Going too hard too fast can make the night less enjoyable, so slow down, and give your body time to keep up.
– Have a meal before or while drinking to help your body process alcohol.
– Don’t bring the vibe down or put yourself at risk with illegal substances.
