XFMs First Friday. Live: The Strypes + The Tapestry. DJ: Jo Good

  • Friday | 06.12.13
  • 9.00pm
  • Band on the Wall, Manchester

XFM reboots it’s legendary indie-disco, featuring full live sets by The Strypes and The Tapestry, followed by an all killer, no filler dance party with mistress of ceremonies, XFM DJ Jo Good

The Strypes are riding one helluva wave this year with their retro classic rock, despite being aged between 16 and 18. The group has spent the past 18 months launching their explosive R&B assault on the clubs and festivals of Ireland, the UK and Europe, viciously hammering out a no-nonsense blues repertoire drawing from the songbooks of Chuck Berry, Bo Diddley, Howlin’ Wolf, Little Walter, Slim Harpo and more with the passion and venom of British blues groups such as Dr. Feelgood, The Yardbirds, The Rolling Stones and The Animals.

They already count Jeff Beck, Noel Gallagher and Paul Weller amongst their fans and have been tipped by NME as the No.1 new band to watch.

Fresh from supporting the Arctic Monkey’s across the UK and Europe, it seems things can only get better for The Strypes. Catch them here whilst you can.

Support comes from Manchester quartet The TapestryHaving toured the full-length of UK alone, and with The Courteeners,The Young Knives, Sound Of Guns and Little Barrie, boy/girl combo The Tapestry are a blast of glam rock and indie. Lucid drumming combine with epic guitar riffs and perfectly tuned vocal harmonies to turn into their own brand of garage-pop.

And of course, Jo will be providing music that rocks until the early hours; from game-changing classic anthems to new talent such as Peace, Jake Bugg and Foals, you’re guaranteed to be dancing to the very best rock, indie and alternative music spanning both time and genre.
