Up-and-coming urban dance artist, Swindle has been described as the ‘Herbie Hancock of grime’ because of his genre-busting music, which takes elements from jazz and mixes them in with drum ‘n’ bass. Swindle came of age in the era of UK garage and jungle, making mix tapes and selling them independently in London. After hearing Lethal Bizzle’s hit single Pow!, he was inspired to embrace the grime scene, but he actively tries to push the genre into new and more musical directions. He has also produced major artists such as Ashley Walters, Chipmunk and Professor Green.

A huge part of his appeal is the array of genres he floats through within his albums and frenetic live shows, easing his way through dubstep, grime, hip-hop, funk and jazz. His records constantly surprise, making some gloriously sudden left turns to take you towards a completely different sonic destination.

Listen to Swindle’s latest live set, recorded at the Hammersmith Apollo where he supported Snarky Puppy in October.

Manchester’s own BPM (Big People Music) will be keeping the party going until late with some old skool garage, two step, and UK funky.  At 140BPM!

The Picturehouse Cafe Bar is open beforehand for delicious food and drinks.
