Grooverider

Raymond Bingham has been at the forefront of DJ culture for over 25 years. He begun his career in the late 1980s at warehouse raves and on pirate radio. His original influences and tastes stem from hip hop, rare groove, soul, disco, techno and house. In the early 1990’s Rage gave him a residency, a club night that the real headz still reference today as pivotal for underground electronic music. In 1990 Fabio & Grooverider released “Rage” on Perception Records. A few more releases followed in the 90’s on Moving Shadow and a few more under his many aliases, such as Codename John, Inta Warriors and The Limit. He is the founding father of Prototype Recordings, a label which set the benchmark for quality Jungle and D&B, with the first tracks on the label emerging around 1994. An imprint shrouded in mystery, with dubplates from Photek, Optical, Ed Rush, Fierce, Boymerang and Lemon D floating around, but never actually being officially released. The seminal “Prototype Years” album featured some of the most mind-blowing pieces of D&B history, including “Secrets” by John B, “Deep Inside” by the man himself, “Still” from Boymerang, “Silver Blade” and “Threshold” by Dillinja. In 1998 “Sonar” by Trace and “The Pulse” by Bad Company then in 2001 “Planet Dust” furthered propelled the label into futuristic realms. In 1998 he released his studio masterpiece “Mysteries Of Funk” with Optical. His radio show “One In The Jungle” ran from 1995 then later became internationally known as the Fabio & Grooverider show on Radio 1. We are very proud to welcome him back to play 2 hours of classics. Just imagine his record bag full of foundation material and forgotten dubplates. All hail the Riiiiiiiider!
