Band on the Wall’s monthly liquid drum n bass night kicks off 2013 with a stellar line-up featuring one of the finest DJs to emerge out of the Manchester scene for years, Dub Phizix, alongside very special guests Commix plus main men Marcus Intalex, DRS and Bane.
Please note we’re kicking off the proceeding earlier this year with all the action beginning at 10.30pm.
Dub Phizix
Now and again, an artist comes along and breaks the mould and leaves their mark. The last 2 years have been a busy time for Mr Phizix, he has had a number of releases for such prestigious labels, such as Exit, Soul:R, Critical, Dispatch, Samurai, Commercial Suicide, Hospital & Alignment. He is one of the key producers on the DRS album “I Don’t Usually Like MC’s But…”. Not forgetting the global phenomenon that is “Marka”, which also featured Skeptical & Strategy. This cross pollinating anthem has caused a storm within electronic music and has become an instant classic. The production standards of his tunes are of a higher level, a level that most beat makers aspire to reach. In 2013 he will continue to bring fire to a dancefloor near you, starting with his hometown, Manchester.
Commix
Having released on some of the biggest labels within D&B, such as Metalheadz, Hospital, 31, Subtitles, Exit, Shogun. The “Call To Mind” & “Re:Call To Mind” projects gained them appeal throughout the world of electronic music featuring remixes from Burial, dBridge, A Made Up Sound, Pangaea, Instra:mental, Marcel Dettman, Pedestrian, Kassem Mosse & Sigha. It has been a while since Manchester has witnessed Commix perform. They have been a household name within D&B for nearly a decade with anthems such as “Be True”, “Strictly”, “Midas Touch”, “Electric” “Talk To Frank” & “Rufige Kru – Is This Real, (I’m Not Sure – Remix)”.
Marcus Intalex
Producer, DJ & label owner. Marcus represents the best in the D&B genre. Soul:R is a label which stands for quality to the highest degree. His DJ sets have given him the reputation as a tastemaker. He has residencies with Soul:ution in both Band On The Wall Manchester & Fabric in London. Not forgetting the radio shows for Red Bull Music Academy. Marcus is one of electronic Music’s true visionaries, he will continue to play new & exciting music and push new artists in his DJ sets. 2013 is set to be a busy year for him, especially with his new alias Trevino, representing his Techno & House roots.
Bane
Eastern Bloc Records D&B buyer and a mainstay DJ at the heart of the Manchester scene for nearly a decade. He played at Soul:ution back in May 2012 for the first time and has now come on board as the new resident. Last month he warmed the system up with a heavy selection of new and old records. Get ready for another killer selection of vinyl to get the place moving. When it comes to tune selection, quality control is the key. A DJ you can trust.
MC DRS
Resident for Soul:ution since day one, part of the Broke’N’£nglish family and your favourite MC’s favourite MC. He was recently crowned as Best MC in the D&B Arena Awards 2012, a well deserved achievement I am sure you will agree. The debut LP “I Don’t Usually Like MC’s But..” proves how versatile he is on the mic. Last month’s live show went off in a big way, if you weren’t there then you missed out.
This event will begin at 10.30pm but our Picturehouse Cafe Bar is open earlier for good times.
