We are delighted to present r’n’b influenced jam band Snarky Puppy in Brighton. Recent Grammy Award winners, their star is certainly rising.
The New York-based quasi-collective has gone from the best-kept secret to one of the most respected names in instrumental music. They have just earned a Grammy for Best R&B Performance with featured guest Lalah Hathaway, and their last album, Family Dinner – Volume One, charted at #1 on the iTunes Jazz Charts. This show will feature all-new music from forthcoming album We Like it Here – to be released in February.
With a deep knowledge and respect for the tradition, their music ranges from raw funk and soul through to lyrical melodies and lush harmonies and delivers a delicate mixture of composition and improvisation. Their live shows are unparalleled in energy, virtuosity, and sheer musicianship. We are in for a treat!
‘The unstoppable Snarky Puppy – led by composer/bassist Michael League – sound as if they’ve absorbed and reinvented almost the entire history of jazz fusion.’ The Guardian
