Riot Jazz Brass Band hail from the grimy protoplasm of Manchester’s prolific creative scene. The 9-strong troupe is comprised of three trumpets, three trombones, drums and a sousaphone. Fronted by the prodigious MC Chunky, the genre-bending band are an exhilarating live fit, oozing with irresistible energy and an infectious passion.
Since 2008, they’ve drawn from a diverse genre directory – think jazz, hip-hop, drum & bass, balkan, trap, grime, dubstep, Latin, classical – writing and playing whatever their hearts desire. The same goes for their ubique take on covers, which range from Britney Spears to Todd Terje.
This astonishing versatility and insatiable hunger to explore all corners of the musical spectrum has led to collaborations with a wide variety of artists, such as Swindle, Plan B, London Elektricity and Riz MC.
