Drawing on elements of folk, country and jazz, the 21st urban roots music produced by Canadians Allison Russell, Awna Teixeira, Benny Sidelinger, and Mikey “Lightning” August are a joy to behold. As Po’ Girl they combine distinct voices and incredible harmonies with original and poetic tunes you’ll find yourself humming for a month. Multi-instrumnetalists, they showcase a wide array of instruments-from gutbucket bass, accordion, clarinet, banjo, dobro, guitar, to electric bass, glockenspiel, piano, harmonica, bicycle bells, drums– and they all frequently trade off instruments with each song. Performing at Band on the Wall with very special guest – Chicago singer songwriter JT Nero. Expect a wonderful live set by one of the most beguiling bands touring today.
