Picturehouse Choir, our own 35 strong natural voice group led by Jules Gibb, host a special night of a cappella vocal music with two special guest choirs. Jules is recognised internationally for her engaging and inspirational teaching and leadership in the field of Natural Voice singing. This performance includes songs from the choir’s huge repertoire including some beautiful new arrangements and some old favourites.

We are delighted to welcome two guest choirs to sing this show, both led by PHC favourite, Faith Watson. The Shylarks and The Manchester Larks.

A late addition to the bill, Sing City, a group of young performers and writers working with our creative learning partner Brighter Sound at Band on the Wall. They will perform material created at their last residency; the Song Book project. Sing City is an ongoing creative project for young people aged 13-18 focussing on broadening vocal, lyric and songwriting skills at Band on the Wall. They work with accomplished and experienced vocal artists and writers with years of experience working at the highest level. Click HERE for further project details.

“There’s no choir in the world quite like this one – love it to bits!”

“Fun, relaxed, with an inspirational musical director and open to anyone and everyone who wants to sing”

This is week 10 of a 10 week course.

The group sings an amazing variety of traditional acapella songs taken from the amazon rainforest to the highlands of Scotland, plus a selection of specially created natural voice arrangements of classic songs in styles ranging from jazz, gospel and popular music.

Performance opportunities include small scale informal performances in the Picturehouse at the end of term up to large scale outdoor extravaganzas with massed voices in support of Wateraid.

“A fun, uplifting, shared musical experience”

Jules Gibb and The Picturehouse Choir welcomes all comers, all ages, all abilities to sing and harmonise in the friendly social atmosphere of the Picturehouse at Band on the Wall.

No previous singing or musical experience necessary. No auditions needed. Try it out before you subscribe, just come along for a ‘no obligations’ trial session and sign-up for the term if you want to carry on.

Next PHC course starts on Wednesday April 30th 2014.
