Brighter Sound and Noisy Toys present a full day of free robot building workshops at Band on the Wall.
Brighter Sound is partnering up with Noisy Toys to present a day of workshops to build a string section for the Robot Orchestra as part of Manchester’s European City of Science celebrations.
Over a full day we will build an automated mechanical string section upcycling junk materials to build the Noisy Toys ‘Auto-Strummers’ to strum violins and guitars. This build will involve engineering, circuitry, coding and music, and when the string section is finished it will provide an essential part of the Robot Orchestra – and your work can feature in it. Join the quest to build the recycled Robot Orchestra!
There are three workshop activities over the course of the day, which are:
– Making the Auto-Strummers using circuits and upcycled materials
– Making the frame to house the Auto-Strummers and instruments
– Coding on Raspberry Pi and Arduino to control the instruments – we will learn coding and musical harmony
The making will go on all day and the more help we get, the more amazing the finished result will be.
This workshop is part of a series of Robot Building workshops taking place over the summer, run by Noisy Toys. It is aimed at 8-16 year olds and must be booked in advance.
