“Michael Weston King has a voice part Nashville balladeer and part Alt Country hero…a cross between Nick Cave and Rodney Crowell.”  The Independent

“As fine a singer songwriter as Gram Parsons  Chris Hillman

Michael Weston King collects the kind of critical acclaim most current singer-songwriters can only dream of. Couple that with the fervent admiration of a fanbase that long ago recognised this massive talent, and you’ve got one of UK alt.country’s leading men coming to town for this special live show.

Influenced by, among others, Elvis Costello, Hank Williams, Townes Van Zandt and Roy Orbison, King’s output just gets better with his 2010 album I Didn’t Raise My Son to Be A Soldier receiving huge critical acclaim. Inspired by the endless vigils of Wootton Bassett for the returning war dead of Iraq and Afghanistan, King released this heartlfelt and deeply moving anthology of protest songs. Drawing on songs by Phil Ochs, Bob Dylan, Roosevelt Sykes, Bobby Womack and Bobby Darin, it is incredibly impressive. We are now delighted to welcome this songsmith of great depth and power to Band on the Wall. Support tonight comes from The Reveres performing a special acoustic set.
