Band on the Wall presents a series of free entry gigs and DJ sets on our second stage, located to the rear of our brand new bar. We’ll be shining a light on our favourite emerging artists across all genres with a diverse programme of global sounds from, and inspired by, the music of cultures from around the world.
Tonight we celebrate Lav’s single launch!
Manchester based, Hampshire grown Lavender Rodriguez is explores sounds between alternative/electronic soul to afrobeat by night, whilst working as a classical composer by day.
Their music celebrates the intersectionality of queerness, mixed race and life experience and is recently returning to the Manchester scene.
Wind Down is Lavender Rodriguez’s first track after a 2-year Pandemic Hiatus – they return to the scene, celebrating a sense of release and letting go with this fusion of electronic RnB and afrobeat – a new approach to Lavender’s music that has yet to be released.
The track is the last to appear in their soon-to-be-released debut EP. It contrasts the sultry tones Lavender used to produce during the pandemic by fusing electronic grooves with afrobeat to create a more upbeat dance-based track.
“The EP looks at my feelings and behaviours over the course of a 24 hour period and this track represents those nights where you just want to let go, forget the day.”
